The Free Officers

This organization was called “The Free Officers,” and after the situation worsened in Egypt as a result of the Cairo Fire that broke out in 1952 AD, the Free Officers organization forced the King Farouk on July 26 In the same year, his son Ahmed Fouad stepped down from power, and the monarchy was ended, and the republican regime headed by Mohamed Naguib was declared. 

 

In February 1954, Mohamed Naguib resigned after the expansion Disagreements between him and the members of the Revolutionary Command Council. Gamal Abdel Nasser was appointed Chairman of the Revolutionary Command Council and Prime Minister. On June 23, 1956, he was elected President of the Republic by popular referendum in accordance with the Constitution of January 16. 1956 – The first constitution of the revolution.

 

On February 22, 1958, Gamal Abdel Nasser became President of the United Arab Republic after declaring unity between Egypt and Syria, until the secession plot carried out by individuals from The Syrian army on September 28, 1961.
