The Minister of Foreign Affairs confirms the government’s political will to strengthen relations with the countries of the African continent
Dr. Badr Abdel-Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, confirmed that the Egyptian government has a political will to strengthen relations with the countries of the African continent.
This came during the Foreign Minister’s reception today, Saturday, of the African Affairs Committee in the House of Representatives, headed by Sherif El-Gabaly, within the framework of supporting cooperation with the various committees of the House of Representatives and exchanging visions on foreign affairs in a way that serves national interests.
Minister Abdel-Aty stressed – during the meeting – the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ pride in the existing cooperation with the Egyptian Parliament and its various committees, stressing the Egyptian-African relations constitute one of the main circles in Egyptian foreign policy.
The minister reviewed the determinants of the Egyptian position on files that directly affect Egyptian national security and the security and stability of the continent, the most important of which are developments in Sudan, the Horn of Africa, and the Ethiopian dam.
Minister Abdel-Ati also discussed the multiple visits he made to African countries, highlighting the efforts being made to strengthen economic and trade relations with the countries of the continent and the various initiatives and programs that are being implemented through the Egyptian Agency for Partnership for Development and the Cairo International Center for Conflict Resolution. And peacekeeping, in addition to establishing a mechanism for investment in the Nile Basin, and an Egyptian agency to guarantee exports in Africa.
The minister highlighted the broad activity of Egyptian companies in Africa, especially in the field of infrastructure, stressing the state’s keenness to enhance economic, commercial and investment activity. With African countries during the coming period.
The Minister explained that Egypt’s membership in the African Peace and Security Council during the period from 2024 – 2026, and its presidency of the Council during the month of October reflects Egyptian diplomatic activity on the continent and the desire to deepen partnerships with African countries in a way that achieves national interests and meets the ambitions of friendly African countries.
In this context, he welcomed the efforts of the House of Representatives to establish friendship groups with African parliaments in order to It enhances cooperation at the people-to-people level.
