The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration receives a phone call from his French counterpart

Ambassador Tamim Khallaf, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that the French Foreign Minister briefed Minister Abdel Ati on the results of his recent tour of the region, which dealt with developments in the Lebanese political and humanitarian scene. And developments in the Gaza Strip.

 

The joint coordination comes within the framework of the distinguished relations between Egypt and France and the mutual keenness to exchange assessments on ways to cease fire in Gaza and Lebanon and achieve calm. The two ministers discussed in detail the current efforts to reach an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the entry of humanitarian aid in light of the sharp deterioration in the humanitarian conditions in Gaza.

 

Minister Abdel-Ati once again stressed  Egypt’s categorical rejection and condemnation of the escalatory Israeli measures aimed at obstructing the implementation of humanitarian aid and preventing UNRWA from carrying out its role, stressing the importance of working to empower the Palestinian Authority.

 

Minister Abdel also stressed Al-Ati stressed the need for concerted international efforts to achieve an immediate ceasefire in Lebanon, establish calm, fully implement Security Council Resolution 1701, and provide all forms of humanitarian support, reviewing the Egyptian efforts aimed at ending the presidential vacancy crisis in Lebanon, and the necessity of electing a president for Lebanon with Lebanese consensus without external dictates. And support for Lebanese institutions, especially the Lebanese Army.

 

In this context, the Minister of Foreign Affairs condemned the Israeli army’s targeting of UNIFIL forces in violation of Lebanese sovereignty and international law.
