The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration inaugurates the training program for university youth on peace and security topics
Badr Abdel Ati, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, opened on Sunday, December 15, the “Training Program for University Students on Peace and Security Topics,” which is organized by the Cairo International Center for Conflict Resolution, Preservation and Peacebuilding of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in cooperation with The German Konrad Adenauer Foundation.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed in his speech his happiness at meeting Egyptian university students. who represent hope and the future for the nation, pointing to the importance of this program, based on the Egyptian state’s belief in the role of youth in building the nation and achieving sustainable development goals at the national, regional and international levels.
The Minister stressed the keenness of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to enhance interaction with Young people, and listening to their opinions and suggestions about current regional and international challenges, especially conflicts, humanitarian crises, climate change, and terrorism, explaining that the goal of the program is to hone the skills of Egyptian youth and prepare them to be able to face the complex challenges that face them. The world is witnessing it, through a deeper understanding of Egyptian foreign policy priorities and the surrounding regional and international contexts.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs also addressed the exceptional circumstances that the region and the world are going through, including the worsening state of polarization. International and the escalation of conflicts and the challenges of forced displacement, reviewing the efforts made by Egypt to achieve peace and stability, and at the forefront of those efforts is the leadership of the President of the Republic in the file of post-conflict reconstruction and development in the African Union, as well as the effective Egyptian involvement in conflict resolution. Various issues, such as efforts to reach a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
Minister Abdel-Ati reviewed the Egyptian foreign policy priorities and its adherence to the principle of strategic balance and rejection of international polarization. He also reviewed the development role of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Supporting the Egyptian economy, as well as the priority given by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration to caring for the interests of Egyptians abroad and the plan to digitize consular services.
The Minister concluded In his speech, he called on the students participating in the program to participate actively during the discussions and activities, and to benefit from the opportunities provided by this new program, which was recently launched by the Cairo Center on Youth, Peace and Security, to learn and contribute to enriching the work of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through their constructive ideas, stressing that the program aims to Empowering Egyptian youth and preparing them to play effective roles in serving their country and society.
