Text of President Sisi’s speech during the joint press conference with his Algerian counterpart

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi confirmed that the opportunities for cooperation with Algeria are great, whether in investment or joint projects.

 

President El-Sisi said in a joint press conference with his Algerian counterpart Abdelmadjid Tebboune after Their discussions at the Ittihadiya Palace today, Sunday – “We discussed ways to develop relations and cooperation in all fields on broader horizons than the current level.”

 

He added that the ninth joint committee will be held in Cairo soon. To discuss more issues of cooperation between the two countries, noting that the extent of understanding and consensus with Algeria to develop relations since the first visit and meeting with President Tebboune was clear and strong. President Sisi welcomed his Algerian counterpart and the accompanying delegation during his visit to Egypt.

 

President Sisi congratulated his Algerian counterpart on the occasion of assuming leadership of Algeria and the confidence of the Algerian people, wishing him and the Algerian people every success. He also congratulated him and the Algerian people on the occasion of celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Algerian Revolution, noting that that revolution was in Egypt and the Egyptians admired it. And great appreciation and respect for the Algerian people and their sacrifices and struggle for liberation, as they sacrificed more than a million martyrs.

 

President Sisi appreciated the generous treatment received by Egyptian companies working in investment in Algeria, and said " We have more than 5,000 companies in Egypt that can work in all fields in any infrastructure projects such as energy, power plants, water stations, tunnels, roads, bridges, and housing projects.”

 

He added, " “There is a huge number of companies in Egypt capable of exchanging experiences with brothers in Algeria and carrying out projects,” pointing to mutual investment opportunities between the two countries, whether investment projects in Algeria or Algerian investors working in Egypt, stressing the provision of sufficient facilities that achieve this.< /p>

Sisi said that during the discussions with the Algerian president, the situation in the region and the extent of the severe risks to which it is exposed were discussed, starting with the war in Gaza and Lebanon and developments in the situation in Libya and Sudan. Pointing to complete agreement on the importance of restoring stability in the region in a way. Far from interfering in the affairs of countries, attempting to conspire, or trying to stir up strife between countries and each other.

With regard to the Gaza Strip, President Sisi stressed that there is an Arab consensus on the importance of a ceasefire, the entry of aid, and the release of Palestinian hostages and prisoners.

He added, “We have all been keen on this matter since the beginning of the fighting on October 7 last year, and Egypt is making a great effort in this context because the amount of suffering to which the brothers in the Gaza Strip are exposed is very great.”

He explained that the Gaza Strip has been under siege for nearly 4 months currently, and that all the efforts we are making with all partners and brothers are an attempt to stop the fire and bring in aid.

President Sisi said that Egypt has risen within the last few days. The past effort has been made to launch an initiative aimed at moving the situation and stopping the fire for two days, during which 4 hostages will be exchanged with the prisoners in Israeli prisons. Then, within 10 days, negotiations will be made to complete the procedures in the Gaza Strip, leading to a complete ceasefire and the entry of aid.

He stressed that the brothers in the Gaza Strip are subjected to a very difficult siege that amounts to famine, and that it is very important to bring in aid as quickly as possible. He added, “We are against any attempt at forced displacement from the Gaza Strip to outside it, because this is not in the interest of The Palestinian issue, and at the same time we play a role in stopping the fire and preserving the Gaza Strip.”

With regard to the Lebanese crisis, President Sisi stressed that there is agreement with President Tebboune and with the brothers in Algeria on the importance of not extending the conflict outside the region and attempting to blockade it. The crisis in Lebanon, a ceasefire, and reaching a state of stability for the very turbulent conditions in our region, so that things do not deteriorate and the region is exposed to a wider war and things slide into greater dangers than we currently see.

Regarding the situation in Sudan, President Sisi confirmed, Agreement on the importance of a ceasefire and reaching a government in Sudan that leads to elections and for things to be stable, indicating that there is agreement between Egypt and Algeria on the importance of not interfering in the internal affairs of Sudan and trying to calm matters as much as possible.

With regard to Libya, President Sisi said that a Libyan government responsible for holding elections and assuming a legitimate leadership responsible for the Libyan state will be the subject of our support and willingness to cooperate for the sake of Libya’s unity and stability, and this is one of our constants that the solution is Libyan-Libyan and non-interference in Libyan affairs.

He added, “The discussions with the Algerian president and at the level of the two delegations were very positive, and open horizons for cooperation between the two countries. Egypt is happy with the relationship with Algeria, and is ready for more joint and constructive work for the interests of the two peoples.”
