"Nationalize women" Concludes a workshop on "Local coordination system for crimes of violence against women"
Within the framework of the presidential initiative “A New Beginning for Human Building,” the activities of the training workshop on “The Local Coordination System for Violent Crimes against Women” were concluded this evening, which was organized by the National Council for Women, represented by the Women’s Complaints Office, in cooperation with The United Nations Development Fund for Population.
which aims To establish a permanent committee for the local coordination system between agencies in crimes of violence against women, in all governorates of the Republic.
Counsel Abdel Moez Rabie, representative of the Public Prosecution, stressed in his speech the necessity of protecting women. The girl’s protection from violence is a shared responsibility that falls on the state, society, and individuals, despite Challenges facing these efforts, indicating that there is a strong political will to address this phenomenon through cooperation between all parties, and that tangible progress can be achieved in this field to ensure a safe and dignified life for women and girls in Egyptian society, stressing the important role of the Public Prosecution in protecting women and girls from violence.
Jacqueline Mamdouh, Director General of Women’s Affairs, referred to the efforts of the Ministry of Solidarity in the field of protecting women from violence through a network of rural women leaders who implement a group of activities, events and initiatives in partnership. With the Council and other parties, it also provided a detailed explanation of the role of hosting centres, pointing to the role of the Center for Victims of Human Trafficking and images of human trafficking crimes in accordance with Law No. 64 of 2010, such as organ trafficking, exploitation in immoral acts, forced labor, transactional marriage, and begging.
Amr Yousry, representative of the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood, reviewed the mechanism of operation of the free child helpline 16000, which operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week with a trained work team to deal with all types of problems. In all governorates Child Protection Committees: The Child Helpline aims to solve children’s problems, help them, and confront all forms of violence to which children may be exposed, pointing to the role and tasks of Child Protection Sub-Committees and the role of the Public Prosecution in the child protection system.
Dr. Amal Philip presented an advisor The Council’s Unit for Combating Violence against Women, the role of the medical sector in combating violence against women, the national process for referring women, statistics on violence against women in Egypt and its latest statistics, and the health and psychological complications associated with women after being exposed to violence, noting the role of the medical sector in supporting women who are exposed to violence, How to provide psychological support to them, and the important role played by safe women’s units in helping women who are exposed to violence according to an effective referral system between the concerned authorities.
At the conclusion of the workshop, Counselor Ahmed listened. During a discussion session, Al-Najjar addressed the problems faced by representatives of the governorates through their experiences in the local coordination system between agencies in crimes of violence against women and working to solve them, in addition to the representatives of the governorates presenting the most important recommendations and proposals, which were as follows: Activating the role of protection committees in the governorates that have not been implemented. Creating units therein, defining the role and jurisdiction of the protection committees so that they do not conflict with the work of the Women’s Complaints Office, issuing a guide for all the roles of the parties participating in the committees.
