Moderator Had To Step In To Stop Danielle Collins From Swearing At Press Conference

Following Danielle Collins’ win against Destanee Aiava on Thursday, January 16, a moderator had to step in to stop the former world No.7 from swearing at a booing crowd.

The 2025 Australian Open (AO) has been anything but short of exciting, it seems.

As reported by Nine’s Wide World of Sports, Collins asked a moderator: “All I have to say is good luck pissing somebody off or getting under the skin or somebody that doesn’t – can I say it?”

The moderator told her not to say whatever it is she had on her mind. (But we can take an educated guess).

Collins has become Australia’s public enemy number one after taunting the crowd during her match against Aiava, with many viewing Collins’ actions as antagonistic.

In a way that can only be compared to a classic Disney character or a campy James Bond supervillain, Collins gleefully jeered at a constantly booing crowd throughout the game.

Collins later suggested during the press conference that the Australian crowd were “super drunk”, and had a “hard time controlling themselves”.

“Good luck trying to get under the skin of somebody that doesn’t really care,” she stated.

Danielle Collins is set to go up against fellow American player Madison Keys on January 18.
