Manal Awad: Develop urgent plans to implement the National Population Strategy in all governorates
Dr. Manal Awad, Minister of Local Development, received a report from the Ministry’s Central Population Unit regarding the most prominent efforts, achievements, plans and programs implemented by the Ministry in all governorates during the month of October 2024 to support the population issue and follow up on the implementation of the presidential initiative “Bedaya” The 100 days are the beginning of human building, and other local initiatives aimed at empowering youth in Egypt and promoting reproductive health and population awareness.
Dr. Manal Awad stressed the importance and necessity of mobilizing all efforts in the population issue file, which is closely and directly linked to the results and returns. Development plans and national and service projects that the state continues to implement to improve the quality and standard of living of citizens and achieve sustainable development in all governorates, noting the Ministry’s continued coordination with all working and concerned partner agencies to ensure the achievement of accelerated steps. It advances this file and overcomes all obstacles to implementing more events and activities to activate the national population strategy, praising the efforts of the Ministry’s Central Population Unit in cooperation with population units in the governorates in implementing programs to limit population growth, which have had tangible results in positive change in birth rates and population characteristics. At the republic level, this is within the Ministry’s plan and strategy, which includes many axes and mechanisms that will address the population issue and increase awareness of it.
The report indicated the Ministry’s participation, represented by the Central Population Unit. affiliated with the World Conference on Population and Human Development 2024, where the Head of the Population Unit participated in a dialogue session on " The Egyptian experience supporting the governance of the population file in localities and the development of population indicators" It also moderated a session attended by 7 heads of population units from 7 governorates, namely Giza – Beni Suef – Luxor – Qena – Aswan – Sohag – and New Valley, to present the development of the governorate’s indicators that have improved, the most important initiatives that contributed to this, and the indicators required to be worked on in accordance with the strategic axes. National Population 2023-2030, and the most important initiatives planned for the years 2024-2025 to improve these indicators, in addition to the Director of the Central Population Unit in the Ministry A field visit to the Population Unit in Gharbia, to discuss the concept of local response to the population issue.
With regard to the implementation of the Presidential Initiative for the Development of the Egyptian Family… the report on the Ministry’s Population Unit’s follow-up revealed the activities being implemented through the Population Units in the governorates in the four areas of the initiative. From the beginning until September 2024, including the field of economic empowerment for youth and women, the service field, cultural and cognitive empowerment, awareness, and digital transformation.

This is within the framework of the directives of the political leadership to resolve the population issue, improve the population characteristics of citizens, build the Egyptian human being, and implement the National Population Strategy in implementation of the goals and vision of Egypt 2030 and implement the sustainable development plan.
