‘van Nistelrooy will want to maintain unbeaten record’
After Ruben Amorim’s rousing Champions League win over Manchester City in his last home game as Sporting Lisbon boss on Tuesday, this feels more low-key as Manchester United prepare to welcome their new head coach on Monday.
Even so, Ruud van Nistelrooy will want to maintain his unbeaten record as interim manager with a win against PAOK, and United certainly need one after slipping to 22nd place in the Europa League table with three draws against Twente, Porto and Fenerbahce.
Despite their indifferent start, United have a shot at winning this competition and even more so if Amorim takes over in a more healthy position.
That is likely to be the case with United up against a PAOK side showing two defeats and one draw in Europe since qualifying with a play-off victory over Shamrock Rovers.
