Lauren Sanchez dazzles in tiny pink dress on yacht trip… as Jeff Bezos is rocked by cartoon controversy

Lauren Sanchez flaunted her curves in a figure-hugging pink cut-out mini dress as she enjoyed a shopping spree in St. Barts on Thursday – hours before her fiancé, Jeff Bezos’s company became embroiled in scandal.

Jeff’s soon-to-be wife Lauren, 55, looked completely at ease as she soaked up the sunshine in St. Barts with her gal pal October Gonzalez.

Lauren and Jeff, 60, have been vacationing on his $500 million superyacht over the past few days, but she decided to come ashore to get some retail therapy in on Thursday.

The former journalist showcased her stunning physique in a tiny bright pink gown, which contained cut-outs on each side of the midriff area.

She completed the look with white sandals, a black purse, and reflective aviator sunglasses.

She kept her long brown locks in a half-up hairstyle for the outing.

Lauren seemed in great spirits, smiling at the cameras as she visited designer stores like Prada, Dolce & Gabbana and Louis Vuitton with October, who is her ex Tony Gonzalez’s new wife.

October opted for a red and white patterned matching shirt and shorts set; her top was unbuttoned and she rocked a black bikini top underneath.

Hours after the outing, Jeff’s newspaper the Washington Post faced a blow when its award-winning editorial cartoonist Ann Telnaes posted a scathing statement in which she announced that she had resigned from the newspaper after more than a decade.

She claimed that her decision to leave came after the Post ‘killed’ a drawing she had made which showed Jeff, along with other tech moguls, kneeling before a statue of President-Elect Donald Trump.

‘I’ve worked for the Washington Post since 2008 as an editorial cartoonist,’ Ann wrote in a statement shared to Substack.

‘I have had editorial feedback and productive conversations – and some differences – about cartoons I have submitted for publication, but in all that time I’ve never had a cartoon killed because of who or what I chose to aim my pen at. Until now.’

The cartoon in question showed Jeff, along with Facebook and Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg, AI CEO Sam Altman, LA Times publisher Patrick Soon-Shiong, and the Disney character Mickey Mouse kneeling at the bottom of a staircase while a shadowy statue, seemingly meant to be  of Donald, stood at the top.

Some of them held up bags of money, while one puckered his lips as if asking for a kiss from Donald.

Ann said that the ‘cartoon criticized the billionaire tech and media chief executives who have been doing their best to curry favor with incoming President-elect Donald.’

‘There have been multiple articles recently about these men with lucrative government contracts and an interest in eliminating regulations making their way to Mar-a-Lago,’ she continued.

‘While it isn’t uncommon for editorial page editors to object to visual metaphors within a cartoon if it strikes that editor as unclear or isn’t correctly conveying the message intended by the cartoonist, such editorial criticism was not the case regarding this cartoon.

‘To be clear, there have been instances where sketches have been rejected or revisions requested, but never because of the point of view inherent in the cartoon’s commentary. That’s a game changer… and dangerous for a free press.’

Ann said that ‘editorial cartoonists’ were ‘vital for civic debate and have an essential role in journalism.’

She added that news outlets have ‘public obligations’ to ‘nurture a free press in a democracy,’ stating, ‘Owners of such press organizations are responsible for safeguarding that free press – and trying to get in the good graces of an autocrat-in-waiting will only result in undermining that free press.

‘As an editorial cartoonist, my job is to hold powerful people and institutions accountable.

‘For the first time, my editor prevented me from doing that critical job. So I have decided to leave the Post.’

The Post’s opinions editor, David Shipley, responded in a statement to the New York Times, explaining that he respected her decision but ‘disagreed with her interpretations of events.’

‘Not every editorial judgment is a reflection of a malign force. My decision was guided by the fact that we had just published a column on the same topic as the cartoon and had already scheduled another column – this one a satire – for publication,’ he said. ‘The only bias was against repetition.’

Lauren and Jeff rang in the New Year on his yacht with her ex Tony and his wife, October.

The glamorous getaway started off rocky, however, as customs officials came aboard the vessel on New Year’s Eve.

DailyMail.com exclusively obtained photos of the moment police showed up and inspected the yacht for more than three hours.

Lauren was seen sunbathing as she spoke to a woman who appeared to be one of the officials with a walkie-talkie in her back pocket.

Billionaire Amazon founder Jeff was not featured in any of the photos so it’s unclear if he was on board at the time.
