Four female Israeli soldier hostages have been released by Hamas in the second wave of captives to be released.
The militant group handed Karina Ariev, 20, Daniella Gilboa, 20, Naama Levy, 20, and Liri Albag, 19, over to the International Committee of the Red Cross on Saturday, live television footage showed.
The four were led onto a podium in Gaza City amid a large crowd of Palestinians and surrounded by dozens of armed Hamas men. They waved and smiled before being led off and entering ICRC vehicles that will transport them to Israeli forces.
Israel is set to release 200 Palestinian prisoners or detainees later in the day as part of the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, which came into effect last Sunday.
The four Israeli hostages freed on Saturday were captured in the attack on 7 October 2023, which ignited the war.
Three Israeli captives were previously released under the truce.
