Executive Director of"Habitat": We appreciate the role of academics in addressing housing crises around the world

Anna Claudia Rosbach, Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme, Habitat, expressed her appreciation for the Academy and their role in addressing housing crises around the world by collecting local community data and providing solutions to achieve urban development.

 

This came during a round table organized today, Friday, on the sidelines of the World Urban Forum, in the presence of a number of academics from different countries to discuss Housing challenges and the role of universities in developing solutions to develop local communities. 

 

Rossbach said: “We must have a space for collective thinking and the World Urban Forum is a space for everyone to exchange experiences.. Housing paths must be established and we must exploit this movement to find sustainable solutions. We will have a quality analysis by 2026 of the work done in the field of housing. And climate. Local data and support for making financing decisions regarding housing. They stressed the necessity of involving the local community in setting agendas in cooperation with universities and using different sources to collect data, pointing to the role of academic circles in forming Alliances to confront the world housing crisis. The number reached 2 billion people. They called for the need to engage in local communities to make progress, provide funding to these communities, and establish a legal framework for land ownership to expand the scope of work.
