D. Ayman Ashour: We are working to create a stimulating environment for investment in higher education
Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Dr. Hassan Al-Noamani, President of Sohag University, witnessed today, Saturday, the opening session of the “Investing in Scientific Research” conference. At Sohag University, in the presence of Dr. Hossam Othman, Deputy Minister for Innovation and Scientific Research, the presidents of public universities, council secretaries, and a group of ministry and university leaders, college deans, faculty members, and students.
In his speech, Dr. Ayman Ashour confirmed that the Ministry of Education Higher education and scientific research have taken serious steps to encourage interest in applicable scientific research outcomes, as an important step towards achieving integration and scientific and research cooperation, in line with achieving the objectives of the national strategy for higher education and scientific research that was established. Launching it in March 2023, he pointed out that there is a strong relationship between investment in scientific research and economic development, as directing scientific research to scientific innovation and applied research leads to achieving a high economic return, which turns it into an investment product that supports economic and social development.
The Minister explained that the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research is working to create a stimulating environment for investment in higher education and provide the necessary infrastructure and information, in addition to developing policies and procedures that support this investment, and providing appropriate incentives to investors, in addition to supporting the diversity of university education institutions that are witnessing unprecedented diversity. During the era of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, the higher education system diversified to include (governmental universities, private universities, private universities, technological universities, and branches of foreign universities), in addition to institutes and universities with international and framework agreements and special laws.
He pointed out The Minister noted that the Ministry is working to promote innovation and entrepreneurship, and to transform the outputs of scientific research into products of economic value that contribute to serving the national economy, and this is done through closer cooperation between actors in The university and research system, and the beneficiaries through programs and initiatives implemented by the Ministry’s affiliated entities, which constitute its technical arms, such as the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, the Science, Technology and Innovation Funding Authority, and the Fund for the Care of Innovators and Geniuses.
For his part, Dr. Hassan Al-Numani stressed The Egyptian state is in urgent need of research and studies whose applications touch on all industrial, agricultural, construction, space, technology, surveying, and other fields, noting that the university provides support. The financial and logistical aspects of the scientific research file, and it is keen to raise its level, whether at the stage of university education or postgraduate studies, in addition to linking scientific research to development plans and societal needs; To find actual solutions that can be implemented on the ground, maximize the benefit from scientific research, and transform it into applied research that contributes to serving the industrial sector and developing the local economy.
The President of Sohag University stressed that the forum highlights the importance of linking the scientific research system to the industrial sector. Production, services and industry; To implement the requirements of sustainable development, improve living conditions, discuss development obstacles in the governorate, and develop realistic solutions for them, by encouraging researchers and entrepreneurs to develop, innovate, and create, establishing business incubators to develop small and medium enterprises, and creating a development environment commensurate with the diversity of the governorate’s resources and the abundance of forces. humanity, as well as raising the skills of human elements working in the production and services sector, and training them in the thought of development and creativity, explaining that the conference includes a number of important topics related to this field, and discussing applied opportunities, and scientific solutions to production and services problems. In the fields of (basic sciences, engineering sciences, agricultural sciences, medical sciences, and human sciences).

Sohag University also signed cooperation protocols with service and production institutions. And industrial, including (the Livestock and Poultry Development Sector of the Ministry of Agriculture, the Handicrafts Export Council, the Al Qara Foundation, the Sohag Water and Sanitation Company, the General Syndicate of Egyptian Agriculturalists, the Sohag Doctors Syndicate, the Iris Egypt Factory, the Animal Health Research Institute, the Veterinary Medicine Directorate, the Syndicate Veterinarians in Sohag, the Arab Union for Sustainable Development, the Directorate of Agriculture in Sohag, the Executive Body for Comprehensive Development Projects, the Project Management Unit, the Directorate of Housing and Facilities in Sohag, the Tourism Promotion Authority, a company Sidra for Investment and Real Estate Development, Quality Techno Seeds Company, Aldar Investment Company, Higher Institute of Health Sciences in Sohag, South Upper Egypt Beekeepers Association).
The official spokesman added that the university organized the "Innovation and Emerging Projects Exhibition" With the participation of 20 innovators and a number of students with special needs, the exhibition included many technological innovations that provide solutions to preserve natural resources, work to reduce the consumption of energy and raw materials, preserve the environment, and treat waste, which reflects the commitment of innovators to present projects that have a positive and sustainable impact on society. The Minister praised the level of innovations offered and the support provided to innovators and entrepreneurs, explaining that the Ministry pays great attention to caring for entrepreneurs, innovators and geniuses, out of its belief that they are the future of the nation, and that they are capable of achieving sustainable development and facing the challenges facing the country.
