Army Day 2025: Indian Army celebrates 77th Army Day with ceremonies at Eastern Command and Robotic Dogs in Pune parade
To mark this occasion, 16 units of Eastern Command were conferred with the Chief of the Army Staff Unit Citation and 45 units were conferred with GOC-in-C, Eastern Command unit citation, a Defence statement said.
“The event was marked by a series of activities that honoured the legacy, valour and sacrifices of the Indian Army,” a statement said.

Each year on January 15, Indian Army observes Army Day to pay tribute to the Army’s invaluable contributions to national security. This year, the celebrations are being held in Pune and Maharashtra, which is a departure from the usual venue in New Delhi for the third time.

On this day, the Indian Army reaffirms its commitment towards the Nation and the safety & security of its citizens,” an Eastern Command statement said.Army Day is celebrated every year on 15 January every year to commemorate General (Later Field Marshal) KM Cariappa’s appointment as the first Indian Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army in January 1949.During the 77th Army Day celebrations in Pune on Wednesday, the Robotic dogs were seen marching in the parade.
