President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met yesterday with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, who is on an official visit to Egypt, in the presence of Dr. Badr Abdel-Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptians Abroad Affairs, and Eng. Hassan Al-Khatib, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade.
Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, the official spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic, stated that the President welcomed Egypt’s great guest, stressing the depth of the historical relations between the two friendly countries and peoples, praising Egypt’s aspirations. Towards strengthening the bilateral partnership with Indonesia in various fields of common interest, and intensifying cooperation and political coordination regarding regional and international issues and crises.
The official spokesman for the presidency explained that the meeting dealt with ways to enhance cultural and scientific cooperation, as the Indonesian president expressed his thanks. Egypt, its leadership and people, for the educational opportunities provided to Indonesian students over the past years in Egyptian universities, especially Al-Azhar University, and its impact. Positive impact on Indonesian society and its contribution to spreading moderate Islamic thought.
During the meeting, President Sisi stressed the importance of strengthening bilateral relations in the fields of trade, investment, manufacturing, information and communications technology, in addition to food security and renewable energy, expressing the state’s readiness to provide All the facilities that guarantee the success of the business of Indonesian companies and investors in Egypt.
While the Indonesian President expressed his appreciation for the efforts made in Egypt to create a strong and attractive infrastructure. For foreign investments, pointing to the importance of increasing Indonesian investments in Egypt, as well as the possibility of considering establishing partnerships to localize some industries.
During the meeting, the two leaders discussed developments in the situation in the Gaza Strip, Syria and Lebanon, and stressed the importance of continuing efforts to reach A ceasefire in Gaza, the release of hostages, and ensuring the flow of humanitarian aid without any restrictions, stressing the need to respect the rights of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state in accordance with international legitimate resolutions, Expressing the importance of returning stability to both Syria and Lebanon, and the need to respect their sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Indonesian President expressed his deep appreciation for Egypt, its leadership and people, stressing the great standing and pride that the Indonesian people hold for their Egyptian counterpart. And the historical relations between the two countries, praising Egypt’s historical role in supporting the issues of the Islamic nation and defending its interests.
