A symposium on the importance of dialogue between endowments, youth and sports at the book fair
A symposium was held entitled “The Importance of Constructive Dialogue in Confronting Intellectual Suspicions” On Saturday, January 25, 2025, at three-thirty in the afternoon, within the framework of the cultural activities organized by the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs at the Cairo International Book Fair in its fifty-sixth session.
I spoke at The symposium was attended by preacher Dr. Hala Al-Asili and imam Dr. Mahmoud Al-Ebaidi, as the participants discussed a number of important topics related to intellectual dialogue and its role in confronting intellectual challenges. At the beginning, dialogue, its objectives, components, etiquette, and controls were defined, emphasizing that dialogue is not just an exchange of ideas, but rather an effective educational means in building awareness. The importance of dialogue as a tool for confronting intellectual suspicions was discussed, by highlighting its causes and negative effects on individuals and society.
The symposium also touched on how to learn methods of dialogue from the Holy Qur’an and Sunnah. Referring to God’s dialogues with angels and prophets, and using these tools to dismantle misconceptions and promote moderate thought. In the same context, the role of the family as a protective shield against intellectual suspicions was emphasized, and the importance of role models in providing intellectual immunity for future generations. Dr. Mahmoud Al-Ebaidi pointed out the necessity of correcting concepts as a temporary duty to confront contemporary intellectual challenges, while emphasizing that adopting constructive dialogue is the way to effectively confront these suspicions.
At the conclusion of the symposium, The attendees praised the efforts of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs in organizing this event, expressing their appreciation for the Council’s continued interest in spreading moderate thought and promoting constructive intellectual dialogue between various segments of society. The audience also praised the supervision of His Excellency the Minister, Professor Dr. Osama Al-Azhari, who contributes significantly to renewing religious thought and developing it in a way that suits the challenges of the times. The attendees pointed out that the Council, under the leadership of His Excellency the Minister and its Secretary-General, plays a pivotal role in confronting extremist ideology and promoting educational and humanitarian values through these cultural and scientific activities.
Supervised by Dr. Marwa Rajab Ghazal coordinated the symposium, as she was keen to present comprehensive topics that touch on aspects of intellectual dialogue and its impact on building a society capable of facing intellectual challenges with awareness and wisdom. An award was also presented by the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs to one of the attendees who answered the question posed at the end of the symposium, in a gesture of appreciation from the Council for enhancing intellectual interaction among the participants. The symposium is part of a series of cultural and scientific activities organized by the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs to promote moderate thought and spread cultural awareness among various segments of society.
