Transport announces a detailed operating plan for 100 buses to transport World Urban Forum attendees free of charge
In implementation of the directives President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, called on the Egyptian government to prepare for the launch of the activities of the World Urban Forum during the period from 4 – November 8, 2024, the Ministry of Transport issued a media statement today in which it indicated that, within the framework of coordination with all concerned parties to serve the forum’s visitors, the Ministry has completed preparations for providing modern, environmentally friendly means of transportation.
The Ministry of Transport, represented by the Organizing internal and international land transportation in cooperation with the Ministry of Local Development and Cairo Governorate by preparing a detailed operating plan to transport forum goers free of charge during the period of its holding for those registered to attend the events on the forum platform (100 environmentally friendly buses (30 gas buses – 70 electric buses) in order to facilitate the visitors. The forum and supporting their movement from and to the forum’s headquarters in the Manara Center.
It was also decided that the service hours will be from 6:15 am until 10 pm throughout the day from 9 main stations in the Greater Cairo area with a direct dispatch system, so that Buses directly from the main designated stations to the event venue without stopping at any other stations, with a transit time of up to 10 minutes at peak times. The stations are as follows (Third Settlement – Mohandiseen – Stadium – Sheraton – Abdel Moneim Riad – Abbasiya – Maadi – Dream Park – First Settlement) Note that the availability code for people of determination is available on these buses at a rate 30%.
The ministry’s statement indicated that coordination had been made with UBER to provide a discounted service for transportation to and from Al-Manara Center by using the company’s promo code, which will be published on the forum platform (the forum’s application), as well as An electronic application was made available through the download link (QR) to serve forum visitors to know the times – of buses for transporting forum attendees. The application included (bus schedules – a map of bus routes – the ability to plan trips from the Google website to use other public transportation means). The Ministry of Transport, represented by the Internal and International Land Transport Regulatory Authority, also provided a guide to serve forum-goers through the official website of the Egyptian Ministry of Transport (www.mot.gov.eg). During the forum activities, the Ministry of Transport will also monitor the service provided and its quality (following up the operation of buses, executing trips according to the announced times, and real-time coordination regarding any operational problems…..) This is done through the operating room of the Internal and International Land Transport Regulatory Authority, which is connected to buses through 100 POS devices that provide real-time monitoring of the buses’ progress and allow knowing the time of departure and arrival and the information of the driver making the trip.
It is worth noting that the Ministry of Transport It provided 10 other buses (7 from Acta Company and 3 from the Holding Company for Land and Sea Transport) for logistical services at the forum.
