Retired Gen. Martin Dempsey is returning as chairperson of USA Basketball through the 2028 L.A. Games, where the U.S. women will seek a ninth consecutive gold medal and the men will seek a sixth straight title. Dempsey has been chairperson since 2016. Along with Dempsey, the 15 seats on the USA Basketball Board of Directors through the 2028 Olympic cycle includes returning members NBA Deputy Commissioner & COO Mark Tatum, NCAA SVP/Basketball Dan Gavitt, WNBA Head of League Operations Bethany Donaphin, Ariel Investments founder John Rogers Jr., three-time Olympic gold medalist Seimone Augustus, and Spurs F and gold medalist Harrison Barnes. New additions to the board are NBA EVP & Head of Basketball Operations Joe Dumars, Duke AD Nina King, SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey, NCAA VP/Women’s Basketball Lynn Holzman, NJCAA President & CEO Christopher Parker, four-time gold medalist Sylvia Fowles, two-time gold medalist Lindsay Whalen and gold medalist Shareef Abdur-Raheem (AP, 10/23).
