Minister of Housing: We are ready to transfer our extensive experience in urban development to our brothers in Iraq

 The Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, said that Egypt, under the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, is ready to transfer its extensive experience in the field of urban development to our brothers in Iraq, and is ready to export its expertise in the construction system.

The Minister confirmed that Egyptian contracting companies and consulting offices have Of experience, capabilities, equipment, human resources, and capital, which qualifies it to participate strongly in implementing various development and service projects for our brothers in Iraq, explaining that Egypt was able during the last period to localize most of the industries related to the construction sector… saying, “We are ready to export to our brothers in Iraq.” And the Arab and African countries.

 

He pointed out that there are many files on which cooperation can be done, especially in light of the great progress Egypt has achieved in the field of urban development. In implementation of the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, whether in the field of implementing housing units of various types to suit various segments of society, developing new cities, especially fourth-generation cities, and projects for drinking water facilities, sewage treatment, and seawater desalination projects; To maximize the benefit of all water resources.

 

He stressed Egypt’s readiness to provide various aspects of technical support in the areas of urban development through the Ministry of Housing and its affiliated agencies or through contracting companies, consulting offices and real estate developers. With their great potential and accumulated experience as a result of the large size of projects that have been and are being implemented throughout the Egyptian state since President Sisi took office.

 

The Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities called on the Iraqi ambassador in Cairo. , to participate, through the state, companies and investors from Iraq, in the World Urban Forum scheduled to be held during the period from 4 to 8 next November, and represents an opportunity and platform to enhance and deepen cooperation in various fields, and to hold meetings with Egyptian contracting companies, real estate developers, and various government bodies, on the sidelines Forum; To enhance cooperation and exchange of experiences.

 

He explained that field visits to various development projects will be organized on the sidelines of the World Urban Forum; This allows delegations to have direct access to the Egyptian urban experience, as the Iraqi ambassador welcomed the participation, wishing Egypt success and success in organizing this global event.

 

For his part, the Iraqi ambassador in Cairo said, Qahtan Taha Khalaf said that the Iraqi Prime Minister is interested in enhancing the presence and participation of Egyptian contracting companies in implementing urban development projects, whether in establishing housing units of various types, projects for drinking water and sanitation facilities, seawater desalination, and other development projects… stressing the depth and strength of relations between the two countries. And his country’s desire to benefit from the pioneering Egyptian urban experience in its various dimensions and to enhance cooperation with Egypt in various fields.

 

He invited Egyptian contracting companies to participate in the investment exhibition that will be organized in Iraq in Next November, so that they can see the opportunities available in the State of Iraq, as the Minister of Housing confirmed that the invitation will be conveyed to Egyptian companies to participate strongly in this event.

 

In this context, the two sides agreed To communicate between specialists from both sides to activate the previously signed memorandum of understanding, and to organize a meeting between the President of the African Union of Construction and Building Contractors, the President of the Egyptian Federation of Construction and Building Contractors, and the President of the Arab Contractors Union during his current visit to Egypt.
