Rio Ferdinand identifies the ‘slack’ player stifling Man United at Fulham and insists team-mates will be pointing the finger at him for poor display

Rio Ferdinand was left in no doubt at the player who was most to blame for Man United’s limp first-half display at Fulham and was certain that the United dressing room would share his views.

Ruben Amorim’s side travelled to south London in dire need of points to climb up the Premier League table.

But they showed little urgency in the first 45 minutes at Craven Cottage with Fulham looking more likely to break the deadlock.

And, when giving his analysis to TNT Sports at half time, Rio Ferdinand did not hold back in his criticism.

The ex-Man United defender singled out striker Rasmus Hojlund as the man most responsible for his former side’s failings.

‘I’d be surprised if he (Hojlund) is not getting a few fingers pointed at him in the dressing room,’ Ferdinand said on TNT Sports.

‘He’s so loose in these situations, the amount of turnovers he’s had today. He’s got to make the run earlier. Slack and loose in possession giving it away.

‘That bit of awareness, lay someone off. Man United most of their possession has been the three centre-backs.’

Hojlund was finally put out of his misery when he was replaced by Joshua Zirkzee in the 58th minute with the game still goalless.
