Charlamagne tha God is rethinking his view that Donald Trump is a fascist after expressing frustration with Democrats since the election.
The radio host, whose real name is Lenard Larry McKelvey, was one of Trump’s loudest critics, but recently began lashing out at his opponents too.
Despite reconsidering just how much he dislikes Trump, he said he still wouldn’t change his vote for Kamala Harris if he could.
Charlamagne said on his Brilliant Idiots podcast that he was disappointed with how the Democratic Party reacted to losing and its actions since.
‘I never called Donald Trump a fascist based off anything I heard from Democrats. I said that because of things I heard come out of Donald Trump,’ he said.
‘But guess what? I don’t even know if I believe it anymore, but only because of how they’re acting. I’m like, well goddamn, maybe it ain’t that much of a threat.’

Rethinking his position appeared to be due to the White House and other Democrats backing off their attacks on Trump after the election and promising an orderly transition, something he complained about previously.
‘Do y’all find it strange that now he’s won, they’re not calling him a threat to democracy, they’re not calling him a fascist,’ he said days after the election.
‘On Monday they were just calling him that, and I would think that if you really believed that, then somebody’s speech would be about how America f’ed up and how things are about to be really bad.
‘It just makes you wonder how much of it did they really believe? And how much was just politics.’
His ire didn’t seem to extend to the vice-president, whom he called a friend he supported for many years.
‘By the way, that don’t change my vote. I still would have voted for the vice president,’ he said.

The TV personality expressed his disappointment with Democrats including President Joe Biden, and former president Barack Obama, since the election.
He repeatedly chastised Biden for offering his son Hunter a blanket pardon, not just for his firearm and tax fraud convictions, in an apparent attempt to shield him from political retribution by Trump.
‘Hunter was singled out because he broke the law. That’s number one. He was singled out because he had his illegal gun and tax evasion charges, not because he was the president’s son,’ Charlamagne argued.
‘And it also shows me elected officials can do whatever they want as long as they have the political will and courage to do it.’
On another show, he claimed Biden’s blanket pardon made it look like Hunter was guilty of something else we didn’t yet know about.
Charlamagne was also unhappy with Biden’s cordial meeing with Trump after the election, particularly the president telling him ‘welcome back’
Charlamagne was also unhappy with Biden’s cordial meeing with Trump after the election, particularly the president telling him ‘welcome back’.
‘I’m glad it’s a peaceful transition of power, but what happened to the ‘threat of democracy’ talk? What happened to the ‘fascist’ talk?’ he said.
‘I’m just trying to figure out how do you go from ‘he’s an existential threat to democracy’, to ‘welcome back’.’
‘He (Biden) was happy too. He was smiling, he was grinning, he was cheesing.’
Other times he accused Biden of ‘quietly quitting’ the presidency after the election, and took issue with Obama laughing with Trump at Jimmy Carter’s funeral.
