Two men dead after boat capsizes near Point Connor in South Australia

Two men have drowned and a woman has been rushed to hospital after their boat capsized.

Emergency services were called to a beach near Point Connor south of Beachport on South Australia’s Limestone Coast  on Monday morning after reports that a boat had capsized and three people were unresponsive on shore.

It was earlier reported that two men were missing in the water, while the woman managed to swim to the shore.

Two men aged 82 and 69 were unable to be revived at the scene while a woman, 59 was taken to hospital.

She’s understood to be the wife of one of the men who died.

The trio were from the nearby town of Millicent and were amateur anglers who had frequently fished at Point Connor for three decades.

The capsized boat remained in rough seas on Monday night with an excavator seen on the beach to help bring the vessel to shore, the Adelaide Advertiser reported.
